Modern Star Integrated School began humbly as a preparatory school a decade ago in the Tamale Metropolis of the Northern Region of Ghana. It was later expanded in 2014 to provide quality Technical education, Vocational training and skills empowerment to the youth, especially the marginalized and needy in society. Emphasis is placed on enrolling girls in the school as a measure to encourage them not to migrate to the southern sector (an action which makes them vulnerable to streetism, prostitution, teenage pregnancies and other social vices) in search of non-existent jobs. Most often than not, they end up as head porters popularly known in Ghana as “Kayayoo” and early mothers which further inflict wounds of poverty in their families.
The proprietress of the school who has had over Three (3) decade experience in public school administration, saw the gap/s/deficiencies in the current education curriculum and the number of unemployable youth churned out of this current set up, took the initiative to birth Modern Star Integrated School.
The purpose/aim is to provide our students with knowledge and the requisite technical skills that will enable them either further their education or gain employment or engage in entrepreneurship.
We serve quality technical training to the youth and also unearth their God given talents to enable them fit into the middle level manpower in the country. This we believe will be a remedy to the growing unemployment and increased poverty levels in Northern Ghana.
As a conventional college with international ties, we put emphasis on cutting-edge teaching methods and technology and also promote innovation amongst staff and students. As part of this innovation, the school is adding alternative energy producing options including the installation of a generator that runs on wood, underground water storage and modern farming and farm management methods.
In Modern Star Integrated School, students are provided with unlimited space to develop their creativity in solving problems confronting their communities and the nation.
